Here at Reading Lark we are offering up an ARC of Illuminate by Aimee Agresti! This giveaway is open only to residents of the US and Canada.
Haven Terra is a brainy, shy high school outcast. But everything begins to change when she turns sixteen. Along with her best friend Dante and their quiet and brilliant classmate Lance, she is awarded a prestigious internship in the big city— Chicago—and is sent to live and work at a swanky and stylish hotel under the watchful eyes of a group of gorgeous and shockingly young-looking strangers: powerful and alluring hotel owner Aurelia Brown; her second-in-command, the dashing Lucian Grove; and their stunning but aloof staff of glamazons called The Outfit.
As Haven begins falling for Lucian, she discovers that these beautiful people are not quite what they seem. With the help of a mysterious book, she uncovers a network of secret passageways from the hotel’s jazz-age past that leads her to the heart of the evil agenda of Aurelia and company: they’re in the business of buying souls. Will they succeed in wooing Haven to join them in their recruitment efforts, or will she be able to thwart this devilish set’s plans to take the souls of her classmates on prom night at the hotel?
Illuminate is an exciting saga of a teen’s first taste of independence, her experience in the lap of luxury, and her discovery she may possess strength greater than she ever knew.

The cover is amazing.
ReplyDeleteAgreed :)
DeleteI agree with all of you - this cover is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think it agrees with me because it's less complicated than the real world. It's nice to get lost in it.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I love losing myself in a paranormal world.
DeleteParanormal romance gets me to read through the whole night :3
ReplyDeleteSame here! :)
DeleteI am in love with this cover! I'm also drawn to books set in Chicago (IL is my homestate! Go Bears!), and the "mystery book" sounds intriguing. :) Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love Chicago as a setting too. Have you read any of Chloe Neill's books? FABULOUS!
DeleteParanomal romance is especially awesome due to the totally imaginative ways the relationships happen, or how the characters are. It's another aspect to really transform you to a different world!
ReplyDeleteI love the imagination elements too.
DeleteIt's just another way to transform the reader into a totally different world. What's not to like? :D
ReplyDeleteI like the jazz age and the hotel sounds very interesting. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI am interested to see how the jazz age will play out in this one.
DeleteParanormal romance is something different from contemporary romance, they tend to be more exciting and with good books are more detailed.
ReplyDeleteI love paranormal romances because they are more imaginative than a normal romance book. It gives that story something extra. (=
ReplyDeleteI think you're exactly right :)
DeleteI like the fact that the main character is described as "brainy" and I've always gravitated toward paranormal fiction. Aside from that, I rally like the cover, too!
ReplyDelete"Brainy" characters rock.
DeleteThis paranormal romance appeals to me because it sounds like a fantastic good vs evil story. I also love the fact that it takes place in a historical setting instead of a contemporary one. The title itself is quite intriguing,
ReplyDeleteI love when authors blend history and the paranormal.
DeleteThis is such fun to read! I am so glad to see everyone enjoying the paranormal romance aspect of this one AND I love seeing all the reasons why.
ReplyDeleteFirst off I am not ashamed to say I love the cover! Especially how it looks like she has wings outlined on the wall. That might just be me seeing things though but it looks like it to me. Plus, don't get me wrong I love vamps, weres, and fae but this is a refreshing take on paranormal romance. Buying souls? That is very unique!

I never noticed the wings until you mentioned them!
DeleteThe description of Haven could have been me in high school. Smart, very shy, not really a part of anything. So glad things are different now.
ReplyDeleteI was a lot like Haven too.
DeleteI love paranormal romance and I've heard so many good things about this book. I love that the plot sounds different from what we usually see in paranormal romance. But I'm super glad it has romance, because I'm a romance junkie!
ReplyDeleteI like it when books don't forsake plot for romance. It sounds like this one is a nice balance between the two.
DeleteThis sounds like a great book. :)
ReplyDeleteI think so too. :)
DeleteBesides the stunning cover, I love a story with a little mystery and romance! Thanks for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Best of luck. :)
DeleteLike everyone else it was the cover that pulled me in but it is more than that. I have seen many mixed reviews and feel that I would love it but want to find out. Especially with the buying of souls going on.
ReplyDeleteI have seen the mixed reviews too, but I went ahead and bought it for my Kindle so I could offer this copy up to our readers. I'm interested to see how I feel about it when I get a chance to read it.
DeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck! :)

DeleteI'd say that I love them because I can use them to get away from my normal life and experience thrillers and romances. I've been wanting this book for a long time, but I'm sadly not allowed to buy it.
ReplyDeleteEscaping normality is always a plus for me. It helps me forget my stresses and worries.
DeleteI love to read and lose my self in the story so paranormal romance is escape from stress and reality that makes for an extraordinary experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. The book looks awesome!!!
I agree with you 100%
DeleteI love paranormal romance because there's so many different things that can happen that is not seen in your everyday life.

DeleteI like that the main character is a shy smart girl. I also like that it sounds like it will have some historical stuff and the buying souls thing is pretty interesting. Thanks for the giveaway! :D
ReplyDeleteHistory elements always lure me in
DeleteAn interesting premise.
ReplyDeleteThat it is :)
DeleteThanks for the giveaway. I prefer paranormal romance because of the worlds in paranormal, going somewhere that would in no way exist and beyond that the characters relationship has to go through obstacles that are so much grander and harder than any normal relationship that when they overcome those, it makes their romance that much stronger to me as the reader.
ReplyDeleteLove your answer!

DeleteI like romance stories that have more to them than just the relationship, which is why paranormal romances are so appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteI am with you there. I hate books that focus on the romance and ignore the plot.
DeleteIt's not my favorite but I love anything with romance :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite?
DeleteHonestly, it's the cover.
ReplyDeleteThere is no shame in that. It's a gorgeous one!
