Teaser Tuesday: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, Losing Lila, & Ship Out of Luck

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Our home was dignified and elegant and great and beautiful.

And also wind-bitten and salt-stained and overgrown and neglected - like an aging ballerina who looked young and supple from far away, but up close had gray at her temples and lines by her eyes and a scar on one cheek.

~ Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke, pg. 7 (ARC)

He kissed me. My lips met his and I just. Stopped. Thinking. I didn't think about the fact that River was still a stranger. I didn't think about the tunnel, or Jack, or the Devil, or anything. My lips melted into my heart, which melted into my legs, which melted into the earth beneath me.

Afterward, River walked me home in the moonlight. Neither of us talked.

And everything was damn near perfect.

Maybe she genuinely was the tragic girlfriend. I really hoped so because I didn't want Jack to wake up from his coma and discover his girlfriend was an evil, two-faced psycho. It might affect his rehab.

I got a big mouth. I don't deny that. Sometimes it's a good thing, like the time I stopped some moron from falling into an open manhole by yelling "hey moron, that's an open manhole!" But other times, it sets me up for a world of trouble, like just before we left the suite, when I had announced to anyone who might be listening, that I made Howie a fake birth certificate.

  1. I just saw that first one yesterday, and couldn't decide if it was my kind of read. Your teaser sounds interesting. I'll watch for a review.

  3. Those are all great teasers. Two made me laugh and two made me really want to read the book. My teasers this week are from Shelter by Harlan Coben and Dick Francis's Bloodline by Felix Francis. Happy reading!

  5. I love the second teaser. Reminds me of this time I went to the beach late at night and the guy have me this kiss that I thought I would faint from and then we walked along the beach holding hands(he turned out to have been sleeping with like 3 other chicks that the same time lol). Haha yeah I think finding out your girlfriend or boyfriend is a psycho might affect you.

  6. So many teasers! I am absolutely dying to read Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and those teasers just make me want it more. I've always been a bit on the fence about reading Losing Lila, though that is a good teaser! And I'm actually not familiar with the Neal Shusterman book, but I loved Unwind, so I'm sure it's good. :)

    Here's my teaser! :)
