Cover Crazy: Blood Magic

Saturday was feeling lonely without a meme of her very own. I stumbled upon the Cover Crazy meme over at The Book Worms and knew it would be a perfect thing for Reading Lark to join. The purpose of Cover Crazy is to feature a cover each week for us to admire its beauty. I really like this idea since there are so many great covers out there!

This week I decided to feature Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton that will be released in April.

This cover is compelling to me for so many reasons. First, I love the muted colors and the burst of red. I also love how the flower is shattering into birds. The flower also reminds me of a blood splatter which fits nicely with the title. The girl on the cover looks as if she is dead. I wonder if the title reveals something about how the magic of blood can raise the dead. I also like the mist clinging to the trees. It makes me believe that the story is going to be creepy and full of hidden secrets. I wonder who the girl on the cover is and how did she end up in this state. I also dig the font the title is written in. It brings to my mind Celtic lore.

What do you think of this cover? Leave a comment and let us know.

  1. I do love how there's the burst of red on the cover! It really stands out. And that's so cool how there are birds coming out of the flower which does look like a blood splatter :D
