My Book Boyfriend #12: Khal Drogo

my_book_boyfriend
We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. The Unread Reader features this meme on Wednesdays, but we figured moving our participation to Thursday wouldn't hurt anything. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

Note: I know that this book has been out for years, but in light of the HBO series, I have been sensitive to not give anything away in the form of spoilers, however, I do want to illustrate the difference of the written Drogo and what has been portrayed in the TV series – I particularly feel the character was done an injustice in the wedding night scene and have included some of it. So let’s read on, and get Khal’ed.

My book boyfriend is: Khal Drogo
Book he's in:
A Game of ThronesAuthor: George R. R. Martin

  1. Wow, I really have to check out A Game of Thrones both the tv show and the book. That is one nice piece of hotness there. :) And he's slated to play the new Conan, the Barbarian, too!

  6. great post. I very recently saw an ad on TV for this series. We don't have HBO in Ireland :( But it looks like the series is so good that they will be showing it here soon, so i'm looking forward to it!

  7. I jumped a little in my seat when I saw this post! He's my favorite on the show! I haven't read the books(should I?), but I do love the show! I was disappointed this past week because the Dothraki weren't in that episode! I feel like I should bookmark this page! Great post!

  8. I'm swooning over hear. Until this point, I have not been at all interested in George R.R. Martin. You've just peaked my interest. I love me a manly man.

  9. Oh no! You are going to have to fight Missie and I for Jason. We have both claimed him as book boyfriends as different characters! *takes Jason away back to the man harem* ;D

I'm also Jelly... I have only seen the first ep when HBO was free. I needs HBO! :) I also want and need to read these books!!!

  11. I love this meme! I'm totally going to have to start posting it on my blog.

At the moment, my book boyfriend is Ethan Sullivan from Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series. I read Hard Bitten in two days, couldn't put it down, and I miss Ethan soooo much. He is the love of my life (well, the fictional love of my life).

    Have a great day!

  13. Michelle,

BEST MBB of the WEEK! I'm so in love with Khal Drogo right now. And I haven't read the books yet, so I really appreciate those quotes. I really want to get to know the book version of him better. I didn't expect so much tenderness from him. Why would he have to share her? Does he save her from her brother? I need to know these things.

I wish he would call me his moon.

    And Jason Momoa is perfection!

    Must read this. Soon.

  15. Missie, I hate to be a brat, but you must read these! I want to give a million spoilers away but I have a certain redheaded friend that kill me. Lets just say that nasty bit of goods, the ever creeptastic Viserys, gets his crown from the khal alright.

Melissa, I so know what you mean! Man Gardens/Harems are personal things. LOL ;)

  16. *sighs*

Okay, Michelle. I'll read them... soon. :)

Again, thanks for this post! Can I say again how much I love the Khal?!
