Book BFF: Audra from Let the Sky Fall

Book BFF was created by Larks Andrea, Paula, and Jen to showcase some of our favorite ladies & was originally inspired by Book Boyfriend. We'd love it if you'd join us featuring your favorite Book BFFs and leaving links so we can check out your posts. We will be alternating between Book Boyfriends and Book BFFs on Thursdays.

This week my Book BFF is Audra from Shannon Messenger's Let the Sky Fall.
Read my review of the book here
Read my Book Boyfriend post about Vane here.
My ideal image of Audra is Alexandra Daddario.

Given name: Audra

Appearance: * long dark hair that she puts up in a complex braid
* dark blue eyes
* athletic build
Facts about Audra
* She is a sylph- an air elemental
* She is Vane's designated guardian, and has kept watch over him since his parents died
* She lost her own father the same night Vane's parents died
* She has been all but disowned by her mother
* She strengthens her connection to the winds by denying herself food, which would ground her
* She is in denial about being attracted to Vane

Quotes:
He puts his arms on either side of me, caging me between them. My heart slams against my chest so hard it feels like it will bruise me from the inside out. ~ Audra, page 116

"I've sworn an oath to protect you with my life, and I intend to keep it. No matter what." ~ Audra, page 151

"You deserve to be happy," he whispers. "No matter what you think or what you did. You deserve to be happy."
"I-"
"You do. And what better time than now- staring down a fight we might not even make it through- is there to start? Let your hair down. Throw that horrible jacket in the dumpster. Give yourself a break."
"I can't, Vane."
"Yes, you can. You just have to let go." ~ Vane and Audra, page 289

Why she's my Book BFF:
Audra believes in the importance of a life of service. She believes in leaving the world a better place than it was when she found it. She is committed to her path, and is unselfishly willing to go the distance and complete her mission. She believes that her worth comes from what she can do- not from her beauty or charm. Being a can-do girl whose career choice is all about helping others, it's very easy for me to identify with Audra. I think she and I would be awesome team mates.
