Teaser Tuesday: Sing Sweet Nightingale, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Museum of Extraordinary Things, This is Now, Salvage, & White Hot Kiss

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Calease mentioned others like her once or twice. She told me I wasn't the only human she "mentored." How many others have fallen for her lies? How many demons are out there, lulling their victims into complacency with visions of paradise and pretty promises?

"If you don't stop doing it, I'm going to - "

"Put us in detention?" said Fred, in an I'd-like-to-see-you-try-it voice.

"Make us write lines?" said George, smirking.

Onlookers all over the room were laughing. Hermione drew herself up to her full height; her eyes were narrowed and her bushy hair seemed to crackle with electricity.

"No," she said, her voice quivering with anger, "but I will write to your mother."

"You wouldn't," said George, horrified, taking a step back from her.

Coralie brought her find up to her bedroom. She folded it beneath her featherbed mattress, then lay there with her eyes open, her pulse pounding. She was exactly what she pretended to be on those nights when she waded into the Hudson, a monster and a monster's daughter. If the man in the woods could see her now, distraught and lonely, weeping in her bed, he would think she had a heart. But a heart was not enough. She understood that now. What a monster needed most was a plan.

A song came on with a slower, heavy beat, and I hesitated, leaned in close to Sebastien and shouted, 'Do you want to go and get a drink or something?' Sebastien put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer, bending down to close the gap until his mouth was almost touching my ear. 'Or something,' he said.

"Soli'll fix it," Luck said. "Won't you, Soli?" "I'll take a look," Soli agreed. "But you're. . . " I started to say. Luck and Soli's odd looks stopped me. Soli couldn't really do fixes, could she? My face went hot. "I mean, you're a guest here." I hadn't truly believed Soli about her being on Fixes, but if her brother said so, maybe it was true. "Plus, you're a girl," Llell butted in. "Girls can't do fixes." "Can." Soli crossed her arms and turned to me. "Show it to me."

It was strange to feel relief over a demon snake. "She helped me twice." I lifted my gaze. "You helped me twice."

"Like I said, Bambi seems to like you. She keeps an eye on you..." When I can't seemed like the unspoken part of the sentence.

I lowered my gaze, so very confused about freaking everything. Were all demons really evil? How could they be when one rescued me from the one thing meant to protect everyone?
