Book Boyfriend: Jackal

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend:  Jackal from the Blood of Eden Trilogy by Julie Kagawa

Jackal's Appearance (From Allie's Perspective):

"I blinked.  The stage had been empty a few seconds ago.  I was sure of it.  But a man now stood at the front, smiling at the crowd.  He was tall, lean but muscular as well.  I could see the cut of his chest beneath his shirt and faded leather duster.  Thick black hair had been pulled into a pony tail, accenting a young, handsome face and smooth, pale skin.

His eyes, sweeping over the crowd, were a lazy gold." ~ p. 269, The Immortal Rules

Some Facts About Jackal:

~ His real name is James.

~ Jackal is also known as the Raider King, self-proclaimed prince of Old Chicago.

~ He was sired by Kanin many years ago, making him Allie's blood brother.

~ His weapon of choice is a fire ax.

~ His affectionate terms for humans include meatsacks and bloodbags.

Quotes From or About Jackal From The Forever Song (Book 3) - Spoiler Free:

"Better be careful, Jackal."  My voice came out cold.  Empty, because I couldn't feel anything, even now.  "It almost sounds like you care."

"Oh, well, parish the thought, sister."  Jackal gave me a sneer and moved away.  "I'll stop talking, then.  But if we reach Sarren, and he says something to make you fall apart, don't expect me to pick up the pieces." ~ p. 20

~

"...Now we're getting somewhere.  But now you're just a big fluffy bunny with sharp teeth."

"Shut up, Jackal" ~ p. 63

~

"But for the love of piss, make some sort of decision.  If you don't want to eat babies and nail bloodbags to walls, that's your choice..." ~ p. 219

Why Is Jackal My Book Boyfriend?

Everybody loves a bad boy, right?!  Well...how about a bad-boy VAMPIRE?  Jackal is very honest and practical about being at the top of the food-chain.  He tells you like it is, not mincing words.  But deep down, you know he's longing for companionship and camaraderie.  I love a bad-boy who has an undercurrent of vulnerability while still retaining his powerful stature.  That is Jackal in a nutshell and I find that quite...sexy.  I picture Tom Hiddleston in character as Loki as my perfect Jackal.
