Throwback Thursday: Poison

Throwback Thursday is a new feature at Reading Lark. We'll still be doing some Book Boyfriend posts and Book BFF posts on Thursdays as well, but the larks wanted a little variety on Thursdays. Throwback Thursday will allow us to celebrate some of the reads we loved way back when. . .

Poison
By: Chris Wooding
Release Date: January 1, 2006

Poison is one of my top 5 go-to books to recommend. It's a fairly easy read, but there are so many layers of meaning. It's one that, if I were to ever return to teaching language arts, I would want to teach. I loved the introspective headspace the book puts the reader in, while packaging the story as whimsical fantasy. Plainly, it is just THAT good. Everyone should read it.

Summary:

Poison has always been a willful, contrary girl, prone to being argumentative and stubborn. So when her sister is snatched by the mean-spirited faeries, she seeks out the Phaerie Lord to get her back. But finding him isn't easy, and the quest leads Poison into a murderous world of intrigue, danger, and deadly storytelling. With only her wits and her friends to aid her, Poison must survive the attentions of the Phaerie Lord, rescue her sister, and thwart a plot that's beyond anything she (or the reader) can imagine...
