Saying Goodbye to 2010 with Our Top 10 Reads - Day #4

As we prepare to enter 2011, we will be featuring one book or series a day from each of our three bloggers top 10 lists. Each of the books featured was read in 2010, but may have been published before that date. These are in no particular order.

Today we have a double feature since Christmas Eve was quite hectic for me. Day #4 will be in its own post due to length.

Andrea's List: Day #4
The Everafter by Amy Huntley

Madison Stanton doesn't know where she is or how she got there. But she does know this—she is dead. And alone, in a vast, dark space. The only company she has in this place are luminescent objects that turn out to be all the things Maddy lost while she was alive. And soon she discovers that with these artifacts, she can reexperience—and sometimes even change—moments from her life.
Her first kiss.
A trip to Disney World.
Her sister's wedding.
A disastrous sleepover.

In reliving these moments, Maddy learns illuminating and sometimes frightening truths about her life—and death.

Tevya's List: Day #4
If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Summary:
In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year- old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck... A sophisticated, layered, and heartachingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make—and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

Paula's List: Day #4
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

What if you only had one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?

Samantha Kingston has it all: the world’s most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life.

Instead, it turns out to be her last. Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.

  1. Paula, I am reading Before I Fall right now, and I can tell it's going to end up on my list of top reads as well. I wish I had read it sooner. These girls are so mean....but at the same time, as sad as it is, it is so realistic! I haven't gotten into the meat of the story yet, but I can tell I'm just about there.
