In Other Words - 2/21/11
President's Day is on Monday for the rest of you too, right? Hmm, I thought so. But as a teacher today is actually my Sunday, so that's my excuse for posting this weeks In Other Words a day late, and I'm sticking to it! Each Sunday (or federal holiday that falls on a Monday, apparently) we bring you a collection of literary quotes selected by our blog team centered around a different theme or topic.
Please share YOUR favorite quote about this week's theme in our comments section!
This week's topic: HUMOR
Julie:
"Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure."
— J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Andrea:
"There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor."
— Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
"Wit, after all, is a might tart, pungent ingredient, and much too acid for some stomaches;
but honest good humor is the oil and wine of a merry meeting,
and there is no jovial companionship equal to that where the jokes are rather small,
and the laugher abundant."
— Washington Irving, The Christmas Dinner: From The Sketch Book
