Do you judge a book by it's cover?
Andrea:
I love pretty covers, but I don't always let that be a factor in if I will read a book. Since a lot of the books I read are on my kindle it doesn't make a huge difference if a book has an ugly cover. However, if a book has an ugly cover I might be more likely to get it from the library than buy it for my shelf. It's not a deal breaker if a book has an unappealing cover, but it does help.
Tevya:
Sometimes. A cover can definitely draw me in and intrigue me. But if I've heard good things about a book or an author, then the cover isn't important.
Hi Andre and Tevya! I agree- covers can just be the initial reason you pick up a book, but I don't think it's a deal-breaker in any sense! It's just nice to fall in love with all aspects of a book! :)
ReplyDeleteI think we all judge a book, whether we want to or not. As long as there are words to paint a new world for me I'm happy.

Hopping through. Like you, I love a good cover, but it's not the most important thing.

I think cover design is important, and a good cover can definitely make me pick up a book. I don't automatically reject a book with a bad cover, but a bad cover can make me less likely to buy it for my library, unless it's gotten really stellar reviews- because I know teens judge book covers, and if a cover isn't appealing, I know I'll have a hard time convincing teens to read the book.
ReplyDeleteSometime. If I have never heard of the book, I probably won't pick it if it has a bad cover. If it is pretty, I pretty will at least read the summary.
ReplyDeleteHeya Girls! I know its been awhile since I stopped by been a bit busy hope all is well with you both :)
