Cover Crazy: Indelible

I was first drawn to this cover by the smoky haze that seems to shimmer throughout the image. Then I began to see that the girl is standing on a beach under the peer as the ocean rushes in. The coloring gives me the chills. I am also not sure why the girl is on the beach in a fancy dress, but I love the eye catching red and the way the dress cascades in the back. The muted coloring of the rest of the cover really causes you to focus on the girl. I also find covers where you can't see the face of the model to be intriguing. It leaves open the possibility for me to imagine what that character looks like as I read. Finally, I get a sense of loneliness from this one.
What are your thoughts on this cover?
Oh I love it! I'd read it for the cover alone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding me to your blogroll, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteI had seen this cover in passing, but I hadn't really stopped to admire it. I find this cover to be very haunting. I love the contrast of color between her dress and the background. To be honest, though, I didn't even notice the fact that she was on a beach until now. And I agree with you on the sense of loneliness. Thanks for sharing!

I really love this. Perhaps it's the way I'm looking at it, but it almost seems as if it's an image over an image. I can sort of see tire tracks in the water; I know it's supposed to be the reflection of the pier. Covers can be like clouds sometimes, we can see different things. =)
ReplyDeleteReally nice cover!
ReplyDeleteI had never seen this cover before. I like how it's really mysterious.
ReplyDelete@Christy - I love your analogy. I have never thought of covers being like clouds but you are so right.
ReplyDeleteThis really is a nice one! :) Really love the dress, I wouldn't mind having one like that :D
