Book Boyfriend: Day

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. The Unread Reader features this meme on Wednesdays, but we figured moving our participation to Thursday wouldn't hurt anything. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend is
Day (Daniel Wing)

from Legend by Marie Lu
My ideal Day is a young Leonardo Dicaprio.

Appearance: Day has blue eyes and blonde hair. His tan skin comes from his life on the street, and his lean, muscled frame tells you he's not afraid to mix it up if necessary. He is of mixed Asian/caucasian descent, which gives him an interesting, exotic look. I couldn't find a good match, so I went with another interesting, exotic looking blonde: Leonardo DiCaprio.

Facts about Day:
*He is wanted by the Republic for assault, arson, theft, destruction of military property, and hindering the war effort. Though he is wanted, the Republic has no idea what he looks like, or his real identity.
*He lives on the streets, dodging the authorities. He watches out for his family, even though most of them think he's dead. He has one consistent companion, a young girl who he takes care of: Tess.
*He is as smart as he is handsome.
*He wears a pendant that is very important to him.

 Day quotes:
"He doesn't act like a desperate street kid. He has so many more sides to him that I wonder if he has always lived in these poor sectors. he glances at me now, notices me studying him, and pauses for a second. Some secret emotion darts across his eyes. A beautiful mystery." ~June, page 130

"Usually I'm grateful for the crowds on the streets of Lake. They're easy to slip in and out of, throwing of those who might be on your trail or hoping to pick a fight. I've lost count of the number of times I've used the busy streets to my advantage." ~ Day, page 149

I looked for more quotes, but couldn't find much that would be spoiler-free. Sorry!

Why Day is my Book Boyfriend: Day is the ultimate underdog, a boy who is unjustly branded a criminal. He accepts his fate, and continues to be a good brother and son, long after most of his family have given him up for dead. Even when his circumstances force him to break the law, he does so in a way that does as little harm as possible to innocent people. He is kind, faithful, strong, and ultimately resilient. He's the kind of boy who would be able to make his girl always feel safe and secure, even in the eye of a storm.

There is more of Day to come: Prodigy, the second book in the series, is due out in late January. Be sure to read Legend this summer so you can get in on all the fun of anticipating its sequel!
