Book Boyfriend: Vincent Delacroix

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend:  Vincent Pierre Henri Delacroix
from Die For Me & Until I Die (The Revenants) by Amy Plum

My ideal Vincent is Adam Gregory. Feel free to Google him!

Vincent's Appearance:

Kate Mercier (the protagonist of The Revenants trilogy) describes Vincent as:

"He was breathtaking, with longish black hair waving up and back from a broad forehead.  His olive skin made me guess that he either spent a lot of time outside or came from somewhere more southern and sunbaked than Paris.  And the eyes that stared back into my own were as blue as the ocean, lined with thick black lashes." ~p. 14, Die For Me (ebook)

Facts About Vincent:

Born in 1924 in Brittany, France.

Died (the first time) in 1942 in the Maquis at the age of 18.

Vincent also died once as a firefighter.

His first love was with a girl named Helene who was murdered in front of him.

He has studied law and has a degree.

He speaks English, French, Italian and some Scandinavian languages.

He drives a vintage red Vespa.

Hangs out at cafes (where he met Kate) and museums (where he runs into Kate later) with his buddies Jules and Ambrose.

Quotes from Vincent/About Vincent:

The waiter set our plates in front of us.  "Bon appetit," said Vincent, waiting for me to pick up my fork and knife before touching his own.  "So you eat normal food."  I commented, watching Vincent cut off a piece of his magret de canard.  "What?  Were you expecting me to order raw brains?  I thought we were going to stay away from unearthly topics of conversation tonight," he said with a grin. ~p. 103 Die For Me (ebook)

He raised his hand, and running his fingers from my temples through my hair, he spoke softly.  "Now that you are here -- now that we're together -- I can't imagine going back to the life I had before.  I don't know what I'd do if I lost you now.  I love you too much."  My throat constricted.  He said the three magical words.  Out loud.  When he registered my stunned expression, his lips curled up at the corners.  "But you knew that already didn't you?" ~p. 71 Until I Die (ARC)

"But now I have something that blows that feeling out of the water. Every time I need a hit of joy, I think about you. You are my solace, Kate. Just knowing that you are in this world, everything makes sense." ~p. 275 Until I Die (ARC)

Why Is Vincent My Book Boyfriend:

Vincent is a very charming and romantic revenant.  Coming from a different time, he maintains his chivalrous manners while still being playful and fun!  Vincent promised Kate to be an extraordinary boyfriend to make up for the extraordinary circumstances they face together, and he certainly holds nothing back. From winter picnics to a private box at the Belshoi Ballet to sword lessons to just hanging out.  Vincent's got a gentle and loving side but watch out when he's protecting anyone he cares about... he's a force, let me tell you.  He's definitely one of my favourite leading men... and I simply cannot resist a guy wielding a sword!

Who Reminds Me of Vincent:

I had a really difficult time finding someone who matches the image I have of Vincent in my head but Adam Gregory is pretty close (but he needs longish hair).

Waiting for the final book is a bit like what Vincent goes through in Until I Die trying to find an answer to his a Kate's dilemma, but the wait will definitely be worth it!
