Author Interview & Giveaway: Devon Ashley

We are excited to welcome author, Devon Ashley, to the nest today. Devon has also graciously provided an awesome giveaway for our readers. Be sure to check out the details at the end of the interview. This one is open INTERNATIONALLY!

Andrea @ Reading Lark: How long have you been writing?

Devon: All my life. :) And for as long as I can remember, I've always had a crazy, active imagination.

Andrea @ Reading Lark: Can you describe your novel in five words?

Devon: With Broken Wings We Fly.

Andrea @ Reading Lark: Where did you get the idea for this novel?

Devon: Hmm...good question. I came up with this out of the blue last spring and for the life of me, I can't remember what inspired it. I just love to write about tough chics, and I wanted to come up with something a little different, hence the prison theme.

Andrea @ Reading Lark: Which character is most like you? Why?

Devon: Rosalie. All my lead characters remind me of me at some stage in my life, but I've always been a strong personality.

Andrea @ Reading Lark: Where is your book set?

Devon: Dust is straight up fantasy, so no humans allowed. Everything is set in adjoining forests.

Andrea @ Reading Lark: Who are three of your favorite authors?

Devon: Currently: Julie Kagawa, Rachel Hawkins and Melissa Darnell.  I love strong, sassy characters. :) Needy weaklings need not apply.

Andrea @ Reading Lark: What is your favorite bird?

Devon: LOL. What? Um...Robins. They migrated through this past year and a like a zillion were hanging out on our property. They're sooo cute!

This or That:
- Pink or Blue? Pink (lol...have you seen my website? Shades of pink. :0)

- Computer or Television? Computer...cause I can watch my television shows on it!

- Read or Write? hmm...depends on my mood. I go through periods of nothing but. Right now, reading, and I'm trying desperately to get my mind in the mood to write Falling Away.

- Sandals or Sneakers? Sandals. Really cute strappy ones!

- Walk or Run? LOLOLOLOLOL! As if my bum could run anymore. Walk. Walk. Walk.

Thanks to Andrea for having me here at the Reading Lark! Today is the release day for Dust, the first novel in the Of Dust and Darkness trilogy. Dust is a clean, darker YA Fantasy about a pixie named Rosalie being stolen by the faeries for slave labor, with a smidgen of romantic interest on the side (fyi...this isn't your happy-go-lucky bedtime fairytale). And as they say, the early bird catches the worm, and today only, I'm letting all those early birds snatch up an ecopy of Dust for a sale price of just $1.99 at Amazon, B&N and Smashwords! If you need actual links, I'll be sharing them over at the official Dust blog tour page, where you can also enter to win some awesome pixie-inspired prize packs! And don't forget to enter for a chance to win a paperback of Dust right here! Toodle-loo!

Devon is offering up ONE paperback edition of Dust to our readers. This is open INTERNATIONALLY! The prize will be coming directly from Devon so Reading Lark is not responsible for prize delivery.

 4. The number of times my delicate wings have been broken and clamped behind my back.
68. The number inked upon my skin, marking me the sixty-eighth pixie to be stolen.
87. The number of days I’ve been wrongfully imprisoned.
88. The first day the faeries will regret stealing me.

Healthy. Cheery. Vivacious. All traits Rosalie has before becoming enslaved by the faeries to make an endless supply of pixie dust. Now that Rosalie has been traumatized by slave labor, extreme desolate conditions and multiple deaths, this hardened pixie is anything but. When this rebellious teenager attempts an escape, she’s isolated in cramped quarters until she learns her place. Just as she begins to let go of all that hope, she finds an unlikely friend in Jack, the faerie assigned to guard her. Interspecies dating is forbidden in the fae world, so their growing attraction is unacceptable. And even if Jack can find a way to free her, they know the prison is the only place they can truly be together.
