I loved the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz when it first came out. Eventually there got to be so many books and so many other novels demanding my attention that I got behind on the series. I fully intend to catch up one day (I have read through book 5), but I couldn't resist this novel when I heard about it. It's a companion novel to the Blue Bloods series that focuses on werewolves. In an intriguing move, the publisher decided to release this one in segments as an eBook. I was lucky enough to be granted early access to the first segment and I devoured it in one delicious sitting and I'm thirsting for more. Part two will make it's debut on October 23 and you better believe that I will be downloading it ASAP.

What I really love about this tiny little morsel is that it shed light on the hell-hounds who have been mentioned in Blue Bloods books. It was interesting to finally get more of their story and I have to admit that I might have developed a tiny crush on Lawson. I love how loyal he is to his pack and his intense emotions. I certainly would love to see more of him in future books.

In addition to learning more lore about the hell-hounds and their connection to the Blue Bloods, I also loved getting to spend more time with Bliss. She is by far one of my favorite characters from the original series. More of her history and purpose come to light in this small addition; information from these Wolf Pact segments will certainly be invaluable to readers as they prepare themselves for the final installment in the Blue Bloods series, Gates of Paradise, hits the shelves on January 15. I know that Bliss and the hell-hounds have a crucial role to play and its been fun for me to see what is going on behind the Blue Bloods scenes.

In addition to all the Blue Bloods connections, I also loved that there is a connection to the Beauchamp witches. I love the characters from that series as well. It is fascinating for me to watch as Melissa de la Cruz weaves all of these intriguing groups together in one large paranormal tapestry. Her writing is strong and I have always loved how she uses history to enhance her creativity. I can only hope that she may write an entire series devoted to the hell-hounds at some point.

One Last Gripe: This was so short! I know it's because they are releasing the story in segments, but I'm ready for Part II now!

My Favorite Thing About This Book: I love Bliss and her connection to the hell-hounds

First Sentence: His earliest memory was of the collar around his neck.

Favorite Character: Bliss

Least Favorite Character: I didn't have one

Part one of the hot new four-part eBook spin-off of Melissa de la Cruz's Blue Bloods series! The ancient wolves were once proud guardians of time. Now they are enslaved in the underworld, mere extensions of Lucifer’s will. Lawson's pack managed to escape this fate by fleeing aboveground. But when the hounds capture the girl Lawson loves, he will risk everything — including his own brothers’ freedom — to win her back. Meanwhile, Bliss Llewellyn is adjusting to humanity after giving up her immortal vampire life. When her Aunt Jane is kidnapped by the Hounds of Hell, Bliss vows to do whatever it takes to save her — even if it means joining forces with the dangerously good-looking boy with a wolf's soul and a too-intimate knowledge of Jane's captors.
