Cover Crazy: Slated

The purpose of Cover Crazy is to feature a cover each week for us to admire its beauty. I really like this idea since there are so many great covers out there! Cover Crazy is a meme that was started by The Book Worms.

I found myself really drawn to Slated by Teri Terry because of the cover. There is something so haunted and innocent in that girl's face. It really made me connect with the ideas presented by the book - the return to innocence. I also loved how the title is within a ripped through section of the picture - because that is what happens to people's minds. In Slated, people who have transgressions against the government have their mental slates wiped clean, and their memories a ripped from them. They have to learn how to do everything again. I think this cover really shows Kyla well - she struggles with life as a Slated; she still dreams glimpses of her past which she can't explain and it worries her.

Kyla’s memory has been erased,

her personality wiped blank,
her memories lost for ever.

She’s been Slated.

The government claims she was a terrorist, and that they are giving her a second chance - as long as she plays by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?

  1. I must agree. I am in love with this cover, and the story sounds wonderful as well. I was reading some of it on amazon. Although, the cover on amazon is different from this one, but they are both incredible! I must agree with everything you said about the cover! c:

    Happy reading!
