Teaser Tuesday: Paper Valentine, Chosen Ones, All the Broken Pieces, & To Kill a Mockingbird

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Ghosts are the kind of thing you go your whole life with everyone telling you they aren't real. I believe in them anyway, because the world is full of things that no one really understands. Mostly though, I believe in them because my best friend died six months ago and now she's with me all the time, materializing silently out of the shadows, creeping closer, reaching out.

~ Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff, Kindle Location 56 (ARC)

That night I dreamed of everything I was afraid of. I was alone with the boy from the piano room. But we weren't playing the piano. He reached for my hand, and I let him. I just allowed myself to feel his skin against mine. It was a nightmare.

~ Chosen Ones by Tiffany Truitt, pg. 28

"I'm sorry, okay. I guess I judged you a little bit because of the way you look."

Liv crossed her arms and glanced at him. "And how do I look?"

"Like a snobby, pretty girl who'd fit in with the popular crowd."

That hadn't been what she'd expected him to say. She looked away, somehow feeling embarrassed, insulted and flattered, all at the same time.

~ All the Broken Pieces by Cindi Madsen, pg. 65 (ARC)

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.

~ To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, pg. 124

    1. Paper Valentine is a YA paranormal mystery. Be sure to check it out in January when it hits the shelves.

  4. To Kill A Mockingbird, is a very powerful and moving book. I remember re-reading it several times when I was a child, which is not something that normally happens with the books I was forced to read in Eng Lit. I still have nightmares at the thought of Thomas Hardy/Steinbeck. Wonder what happened to my copy? Makes me want to go read it again.

  8. I am really enjoying To Kill A Mockingbird. I'm glad I decided to branch out a bit! I might read The Catcher In The Rye at some point too... there are some books that people are always on about that I've never read... at school in the UK, it is ALL about Shakespeare... not so much American Literature.
