Book Boyfriend: Noah Shaw

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend: Noah Shaw from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Noah's Appearance:

"His general state of disarray was almost enough to distract me from his face.  The boy--if he could be called that, looking like he belonged in college, not high school--wore Chucks with holes worn through, no laces.  Slim charcoal pants and a white button-down shirt covered his lean, spare frame.  His tie was loose, his cuffs were undone, his blazer lay in a heap beside him as he lazily leaned back on the palms of his hand.

His strong jaw and chin were slightly scruffy, as though he hadn't shaved in days, and his eyes looked gray in the shade.  Strands of his dark chestnut hair stuck out every which way.  Bedroom hair.  He could be considered pale in comparison to everyone else I'd observed in Florida thus far, which is to say he wasn't orange.

He was beautiful.  And he was smiling at me." ~ p. 27 Mara describing Noah upon their first encounter, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Quotes From / About Noah (all quotes from Goodreads):

“Did I just see you litter?"
"I'm driving a hybrid. It cancels out.” ~ The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

"Is there any point asking what you're going to do to me?"
He grinned wickedly. "Not really."
Fabulous. "Does it involve the use of a safe word?"
"That will depend entirely on you." Noah moved impossibly closer, just inches away. A few freckles disappeared into the scruff on his jaw. "I'll be gentle," Noah added. My breath caught in my throat as he looked at me from beneath those lashes, ruining me.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "You're evil."
In response, Noah smiled, and raised his finger to gently tap the tip of my nose. "And you're mine," he said, then walked away. ~ The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

In my rush, I hadn't tied my shoelaces. Noah was now tying them for me.
He looked up at me through his dark fringe of lashes and smiled. The expression on his face melted me completely. I knew I had the goofiest grin plastered on my lips, and didn't care.
"There," he said as he finished tying the laces on my left shoe. "Now you won't fall."
Too late. ~ Mara about Noah, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

“You're supposed to say, 'All I want is your happiness. I'll do whatever it takes, even if it means being without you.'"
"Sorry," Noah said. "I'm just not that big of a person.” ~ Noah, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

“This was the boy I loved. A little bit messy. A little bit ruined. A beautiful disaster. Just like me.”  ~ Mara about Noah, The Evolution of Mara Dyer

“I'm too selfish to leave you," I said. Noah pulled back so I could see his smile. "I'm too selfish to let you.” ~ The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Why Would Noah Be My Book Boyfriend?

Only Noah can make tying your shoelaces a sexy and sensuous and endearing moment all rolled into one. The reputation that preceded him at first made him out to be quite a bad boy but the tough outer layers melted away as he connected with Mara and that's the guy I fell for along with Mara. He was strong, smart, sexy, confident and cocky...everything we love in our leading men, right?! His support and protectiveness for Mara was phenomenal. He was tough when he needed to be tough with her, and gentle when she needed that too. He wanted to 'fix' her in the most admirable and committed way without being superior or acting as her 'knight-in-shining-armour'.

Who Would Be My Perfect Noah?

Max Irons!  He's sexy, has smouldering eyes and he's British.  He pretty much fits the bill, as far as I'm concerned.
