Teaser Tuesday: The Boys of Summer, The Ward, Clockwork Prince, & Deadly Drive

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

A lone figure leaning over the jukebox flipped through the song archives; he pushed his final selection before turning to grab the pool cue from Sean. I threatened to drop my plates when I noticed Tobias was Toby. The Toby! My Toby!

Our eyes locked, his brows raised in surprise, and then I realised he wasn't the only one looking at me.

He hurtles down the stairs, trousers slick, white collared shirt soaked and hugging his skin. He must have swum from the mobile to get into the building. The thought makes me warm. Then he leans over me, lacing his fingers behind my back and knees. That's when I get really hot. I'm about to resist - I can still walk, I have legs after all - but he lifts me up so easily, as though I weigh no more than a small bird.

You see it, don't you, James? Without Tessa there is nothing for me -- no joy, no light, no life. If you loved me, you would let me have her. You can't love her as I do. No one could. If you are truly my brother, you would do this for me. But the words remain unspoken...

~ Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, pg. 353 (eBook)

I want to say something wise and comforting like a friend would on TV or in the movies. I was to assure Adam that "we'll get through this together" or "Vera's in a better place now." But I don't know how to even start. The silence between hurts almost as much as my knee.
