Teaser Tuesday: The Heiresses, The Beautiful and the Cursed, Faking It, & The Sweetest Dark
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Thalia thought of her Aunt Elizabeth once more, as she looked on. All these women. Surely they had also lost their own sons, nephews, husbands. Yet there they were - dressed, walking down the street, talking, laughing. Living. For the last nine years, Aunt Elizabeth had been a shadow of a woman, waiting to die, as her eldest son had died. It was odd, but, living at Lintern Park, this didn't seem so awfully strange. It was simply the way things were.

Luc looked back to the flickering light inside the pale sister's room. Ingrid. He tested the name out in his mind. His tie to her was already stronger than the one to her sister. He connected to a human through scent, all gargoyles did, and one breath of her had nearly paralyzed him. It had been a long time since he'd smelled anything so light and clean, with the barest trace of dark soil and sweet spring grass.

After a few moments, I released her hands, and held my right out between us. "My name is Cade Winston - MFA student, volunteer, mom hugger, and your boyfriend for the next twenty-four hours. It's nice to meet you."

His face had gone, if possible, even paler than before. There was none of the horror I'd expected to see; I'd been trying to provoke it, because horror was more tolerable than compassion. But, once again, Armand did the unexpected. He bent his head and pressed his lips to the inside of my wrist, right up against the scar and my humming pulse.
