Book Boyfriend: Sawyer Angotti

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. The Unread Reader features this meme on Wednesdays, but we figured moving our participation to Thursday wouldn't hurt anything. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

This week's Book Boyfriend is Sawyer Angotti from the Visions Series by Lisa McMann

Nickname: Sawyer

 Appearance:

Gorgeous green eyes

Curly-ish black hair

He has a street casual kind of style

He has a warm, crooked smile that only comes out when he is feeling shy or self-conscious

Facts about Sawyer:

Both Jules and Trey, her older brother, think he is hot.

Jules describes him as ‘tough guy metro’ in appearance.

Jules has been in love with him ever since they played plastic cheetahs and bears together in first grade.

Sawyer’s family, the Angotti's, run a rival Italian restaurant to Jules’s family’s one and their families hate each other.

Jules and Sawyer used to hide under the slide and trade suckers – he would bring her butterscotch and she brought him grape flavour.

Sawyer and Jules stopped being friends in 7th grade when Sawyer’s father saw him waving at Jules and then his grandfather beat him when they got home.

 Quotes:

“Sawyer has this street casual look where he could totally be a clothes model, but if he ever told people he was one they’d be like “Seriously? No way.” Because his most attractive features are so subtle, you know? At first glance he’s really ordinary, but if you study him... big sigh.” Jules on Sawyer, Crash pg 8.

“All that time I didn’t talk to you, Jules, I wanted to. I watched you. I saw your hurt face and I made a choice against you. I didn’t do the right thing.” Sawyer, Crash pg 216

“I’m not jealous. I don’t get what you two see in him. He’s so... broody and dark and Italian.” Rowan on Sawyer, Crash pg 233

 Why he’s my Book Boyfriend:

Sawyer takes a while to prove he is worthy of Jules’s love in Crash, but he really is a sweet boy dealing with a horrible home situation. He is totally overruled by his family and not allowed to see Jules, and when she says she loves him and that she is worried he is going to die, he is a total trouper. He thinks she might be crazy, until the truth is scared into him. Then he eats a huge slice of humble pie and becomes Jules’s new rock. He steps up in front of their warring families and refuses to allow them to dictate his life choices any more. That was so awesome!! I just finished up reading an advance copy of Bang (Visions #2), and that totally influenced my choice of Sawyer as a book boyfriend; he is all over that book and so so swoonsome.
