Best I've Read 2013: Crash Into You (Character Interview & GIVEAWAY)

This year things got a little hectic for all the blogs involved in Best I've Read. We decided that this year would be a little more low key than the previous years, but we still wanted the chance to feature some of our favorites reads published in 2013. Be sure to check out Friday's post for giveaway information.

Today we're spotlighting Crash Into You by Katie McGarry. Katie was awesome enough to help us out with a character interview and she provided a giveaway for our readers. Thank you so much, Katie!

Jen @ Reading Lark: Hey Isaiah, thanks for agreeing to hang out at the Nest and chat with us! We are so excited to have you here!

 Isaiah: Thanks for having me.

Jen @ Reading Lark: The first question I have for you is about music. What are your favorite tracks for chilling out, making out, working on cars in the shop, and driving?

Isaiah: I like music with an edge. Something hard, fast, and with plenty of electric guitars. Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Lit, Weezer, old school Guns n Roses, and Metallica.

Making out music? That would be anything that Rachel puts on the radio before she settles down beside me.

Jen @ Reading Lark: Wow, cool choices! We will be sure to check those out! Next up, of all the tattoos you have, which was the hardest to get, in terms of emotion or pain?

Isaiah: The dragon. It’s the largest of all my tattoos. It winds up my arm and then the bulk of the beast is on my back. Took hours to get. Hurt more emotionally than physically. It reminded me of the one good home I had and they too left me behind.

Jen @ Reading Lark: If you could meet any person, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Isaiah: My father. After listening to what my mother had to say, I wish I could talk to him. I’d like to know if he had known, if he would have wanted me.

Jen @ Reading Lark: Now, something a little more personal, if that’s ok. We know you are a private guy, so we hope you don’t mind us asking about how you and Abby became friends, and if you ever dated?

Isaiah: Abby and I are complicated. It’s more her story to tell of how we met than mine, but we met in a Dumpster when we were kids. We were both hungry and when you’re hungry, you’re desperate. Telling the whole story will give away too much about Abby. If you think I’m private, then wait until you try to talk to Abby about her life.

Did Abby and I ever date? Hell no. We’re friends. Always have been and always will be.

Jen @ Reading Lark: We love how you supported Rachel through her tough times and came through to help her – it was very “nobody puts baby in a corner” (Dirty Dancing). How are you getting along with her family now?

Isaiah: We have come to an understanding which is good considering what Rachel has to face after what happened after the drag race. Don’t get me wrong. Her family is messed up, but they love her.

Jen @ Reading Lark: Ok, the final question is one that every interview ends with here in the Nest, what’s your favorite type of bird and why?

Isaiah: Crow. Always has been my favorite since seeing the movie The Crow. There’s something about that movie that gets to me.

About the Book

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.
