Book Boyfriend: Bodee Lennox

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. The Unread Reader features this meme on Wednesdays, but we figured moving our participation to Thursday wouldn't hurt anything. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend is. . .
Bodee Lennox

from Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens.

For this post I've chosen Jeremy Sumpter as the face of Bodee.  His hair and eye color aren't quite right, but he has the right eyes: intense and sincere.

Facts about Bodee:

* He's known at school as the Kool-Aid Kid
* He has an older brother, Ben
* At home, he usually slept in tent in the back yard
Appearance:

* Blond hair naturally, though it's usually dyed with Kool-Aid
* Brown eyes
usually dressed in a plain white T-shirt and jeans

  Bodee quotes:

“A man is partially made up of his words.” ~ Bodee, Kindle location 1143

"You’re my. . . first friend, Alexi. Except for my mom. And I don’t. . . I’d rather not skip ahead.” ~ Bodee, Kindle location 1164

“Don’t you ever touch her again,” Bodee says. There must be muscles in his arms where before I thought there was only T-shirt. ~ Alexi, Kindle location 1534

This guy’s life sucks. He’s survived worse stuff than anyone I know, and he’s still amazing. ~ Alexi, Kindle location 1799

Bodee is standing by the light switch. He’s shirtless. His hair is sticking out everywhere. But there’s something about seeing him this way that helps me understand how complex he is. More teenager than man on the outside; more man than teenager on the inside. ~ Alexi, Kindle location 2234

Why Bodee is my Book Boyfriend:

Whereas most teens are searching for their identities, Bodee understands and accepts exactly who he is. He notices things that others don't, and respects the rights of others to decide what parts of their stories they want to keep private. He sees to the needs of others before his own. He is a peaceful shelter from the storm raging in others, and weathers his own tempest in ways that neither harm nor inconvenience others. He gives more than he receives, and loves far more than he is loved. He listens to his heart rather than bending to social convention. While Alexi is faking normal, Bodee is honestly exceptional. He is a rare, fine soul, and I would be honored to know him.
