Teaser Tuesday: The Fall, Sublime, Complete Nothing, & The Queen of the Tearling

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

I must be in the vault, held in place by solid stone. Beneath the house. The dead of my family press around me. We're entombed by marble shot through with a vein of pink, a rare and costly stone, thick enough to keep the waters of the tarn from seeping down into the crypt.

The campus is larger than she expects, but somehow she knows where to look- right, not left- to find the grouping of smaller brick buildings and, in the distance, a wood cabin. she moves forward with a different kind of excitement now, like walking into a warm house knowing what's for dinner. The familiar kind. Except she has no idea where she is. Or who.

~ Sublime by Christina Lauren, Kindle Location 59 (ARC)

I summoned every ounce of strength within me, called on every triumph of my endless, immortal existence to buoy me, and forced myself to stand. Then I cleared my throat and followed the love of my life and the former god who was my best friend into Lake Carmondy High. If ever there had been a sight more surreal than the two of them moving together under the huge HOMECOMING! banner, I wasn't aware of it.

~ Complete Nothing by Kieran Scott, pg. 11 (ARC)

"Nice collection you've got in there, Queenie," Arliss remarked as he approached the table. "There's a few odd duck book collectors salted around the Tearling. I could probably get you a damn good price."

 "What collectors?"

"I don't reveal my clients. Want to sell?"

"Not a chance. I'd give up my crown first."

~ The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen, pg. 273-274
