Teaser Tuesday: Pretending to be Erica, Losing It, The Lemoncholy Life of Annie Aster, & Rebel Spring

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm.

... the marionette girl walks up the stairs to sleep in her puppet bed in the puppet house, filled with not-puppet people.

They are made of flesh and blood, and she is made of lies and wood.

"We can talk Shakespeare. We can talk about anything you want. Though I can't promise not to get distracted by your lovely neck." His fingers traveled across my jaw, until they reached my chin, which he pulled forward slightly with the pressure of his index finger. "Or your lips. Or those eyes. I could woo you with stories about my life, like Othello does Desdemona."

I was already sufficiently wooed. My reply was embarrassingly breathy. "I'd rather not parallel our evening with a couple who ended with a murder-suicide."

He grinned, and his finger dropped from my chin. My skin burned where he had touched me, and I had to stop myself from leaning forward to follow his touch.

El was not lovely. She was old and dusty. And she spent her evenings sitting in the wooden rocking chair by the fireplace gathering more dust. Inevitably, she had a book in hand, which she read through wire-rim spectacles that took delight in slowly slipping down the bridge of her nose. This was not an easy task for the spectacles, as El had a rather large hook on her nose that one would think obstructed their mischief. They managed anyway.

"The way you look at me." Brion shrugged. "It's not nearly the same as the way you look at Jonas. You're in love with him."

She gaped at him. "Twenty of us died today and this is your brilliant observation of the night? You need to pull your head from your arse and focus on what's important."

Lysandra walked away from him angrily, not knowing how to deal with such an asinine accusation. She did realize, however, that she had not tried to deny it.
