Teaser Tuesday: The Weight of Feathers, This Raging Light, & My Antonia

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm.

Lace had obeyed. Her whole life, she'd obeyed. She'd done makeup for the all the sirenas, even when it meant she couldn't finish her own. She'd hidden her escamas even though they were the part of her body she loved most, all because Abuela was sure people would call her and her cousins los monstrous if their scales ever showed.

~ The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore, pg. 85

Trust. What does it even mean? You hand someone the knife to stab you with when you trust them. I know this much is true. I hitter and skitter, but Shane can help me put food in my fridge, keep my lights on, keep the Cooking Channel for Wren, keep us together. My hand may have been shaking, but I had to give that stranger-girl the knife, even knowing how sharp it might be.

~ This Raging Light by Estelle Laure, Kindle Location 222-225 (ARC)

As I looked about me I felt that the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of winestains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running.

~ My Antonia by Willa Cather, pg. 10

  1. The Weight of Feathers sounds really interesting--I love that teaser. My heart goes out to Lace.

I can just imagine the scene described by Willa Cather in her novel, My Antonia.

I like the teaser from The Raging Light as well. I want to know more about what will happen.
