Book Spotlight & Giveaway: The Gold-Son

Top Three Reasons This Looks Like a Great Summer Read:

1. I love fairy tale retellings. There is something magical about reading them in the summer months when the weather is warm and anything seems possible.
2. I haven't read a lot of YA stuff with leprechauns in it. I did love the film, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, as a kid, so I have always been fascinated by leprechauns.
3. I'm fascinated by Irish folklore and legends. I can't wait to work this into my reading schedule.
P.S. - Also, a gorgeous cover like this lures me in every time.

Three Irish Bands for Your Playlist as You Read The Gold-Son:

1. The Cranberries - yes, I was a teen in the 90's, but you also have to admit Dolores O'Riordan has a cool voice.
2. Flogging Molly - It's impossible to listen to them and be in a bad mood.
3. Snow Patrol - There is just something about Gary Lightbody's voice that intrigues me. I'm excited that they are working on a new album.

Three Irish Locations on my Bucket List:
1. Dublin
2. Cliffs of Moher
3. The Giant's Causeway

All sixteen-year-old Tommin wants is to make beautiful shoes and care for his beloved granny, but his insatiable need to steal threatens to destroy everything. Driven by a curse that demands more and more gold, he’s sure to get caught eventually.

When mysterious Lorcan Reilly arrives in town with his “niece,” Eve, Tommin believes the fellow wants to help him. Instead, Lorcan whisks him off to the underground realm of the Leprechauns, where, alongside Eve, he’s forced to prepare to become one of them.

As Lorcan’s plans for his “gold-children” are slowly revealed, Tommin and Eve plan their escape. But with Tommin’s humanity slipping away, the fate-crossed pair has everything to lose unless they can find a way to outsmart a magical curse centuries in the making.

  1. I would like to visit a castle in Ireland! There are so many beautiful places there, I've only seen them on TV. Oh, and can't forget the Blarney Stone!
