Teaser Tuesday: The Tombs & Partials
My father had survived ground fighting in many of the war's bloodiest battles - Shiloh, Antietam, and Stones River. Ironically, when he joined the Balloon Corps, he thought he'd be safer. In his typically positive way, he told me the benefit of losing his leg was that he was spared fighting at Gettysburg, where over 50,000 men had died.
