My thoughts:
I'm betting you've been reading posts about this book and wondering: is it really that good? It's true. This is the best yet of the series, which is one of my favorites.

Confession: I am a hopeless JLA fangirl. Every time I read her stuff, I get so absorbed in the story and characters that I literally forget to take notes, place stickies, feed children and pay attention to regular bedtimes. I literally dance around with glee when a new JLA publication arrives at my house. I've even infected family members with the mania. For just-for-fun reading, these books are as good as it gets. Guys, I hardly ever re-read. . . but I've been picking this back up and re-reading scenes. For months, I've been doing this- while maintaining my regular reading schedule. It's kinda ridiculous.

Here in book 3 of the series, Alex finds herself hopelessly confused- about who she should be with, what she should do, what will become of her, and who she can truly trust. She will learn quite a lot about the motivations and intentions of other characters. She will find out that some of the mythology of the story has been misrepresented, and will struggle with what to do with the information. And in classic Alex style, she creates bigger messes when she tries to make things better.

One of my favorite things about this series is that the characters talk like real people. I'm talking about how sometimes you read dialogue and think, "people don't really word things that way." That doesn't happen when you read the Covenant series. These characters' conversations, as well as the things that aren't said, are perfectly, realistically human. Ironic, since most of the characters are not human.

I really love the world Armentrout has created- the Greek mythology base is fun to play with, and these characters feel like old friends. Except the villains, of course, who feel like old enemies. And then there are the hotties- who, in this installment, qualify as smokin' hot, punctuated with a dang. Going back into this literary world is like watching a favorite movie with your best friends- the best kind of relaxing fun: a guilt-free indulgence.

Just in case I haven't been crystal clear: I loved it.

Summary from GoodReads:
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
