Book Blogger Hop - 1/14/11
This week's question comes from Barb who blogs at Sugarbeat's Books:
"Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"
Andrea:
I am mainly a reader of the young adult genre. I think the reason I am most drawn to it is that I like that it makes me feel young. Adolescence is a time where there is so much struggle, but it is also a time of magic. My favorite realm of YA literature is of the paranormal variety. I have been obsessed with vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and all sorts of other monsters since I was a kid. I love to see all the new spins on my favorite supernatural beings.
Tevya:
I typically read romance and YA, with a lot of paranormal thrown in. I have always been a romantic at heart, always in love with the idea of love. I love the butterflies of meeting that special someone, and the wide range of emotions that falling in love brings. YA brings in the innocence of first love, the devotion of high school relationships when nothing else in the world matters except what you are going through, the friendships and the drama, along with all of those feelings that you can't recaputre except through reading. The paranormal aspect brings in the fun of the unknown and the excitement of things that we can only dream about and imagine.

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Reading World! This is a great blog - so creative! I've read some paranormal that I've really liked, but I don't read it very much because of a lifelong irrational fear of vampires. I dread the nightmares!
ReplyDeleteStopping by for the Hop! I am really just starting to dip my toes in the YA genre.
ReplyDeleteAngela
Hey guys thanks for following my blog! I just started following yours and I think that is so cool that you two blog together. My friend Kate and I have been trying to write just one joint blog entry on both of our blogs for like a month now and it is not that easy.
ReplyDeleteI don't read a lot of Paranormal but I liked what you guys had to say about YA. Right now I am listening to Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist and it is a lot like what Tevya was talking about as far as highschool relationships. I'm going to post about it tomorrow.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!:D

It's nice to leave adolescence behind and look at it fondly. Magical is a nice way to describe it.

ReplyDeleteGreat answers to the hop question by both of you!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, Thanks for visiting and following my blog. ove yours.I read YA paranormal and fantasy, never used to be into the vampire werewolf thing, but now love it.
ReplyDeleteI'm into the YA especially paranormal too!
ReplyDeleteNice blog. :)
Thanks for hopping by!
Gotta love the YA paranormal! I think it's just that time period in a persons life where so much happens, so many coming of age moments. That is part of why I love YA. I read Adult as well, but both genres are awesome. My fav is fantasy, but I dabble a little bit everywhere...well, except non-fic. Not a fan.. I'm your newest follower!

Thanks for stopping by my blog :]
ReplyDeleteI love how YA is loved by so many people! There's always something that draws us in. Can't wait to check out future posts from both of you :)
Thanks for all the comments! We love getting them and having new people discover our blog.
ReplyDeleteI also think I'm drawn to YA because there weren't quite as many YA options when I was a kid. I love the variety and am making up for it now.
Thanks for stopping by! I love your blog and am a new follower. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteAndrea--I know what you mean about not having YA options as a kid. I almost completely skipped the YA genre when I was a teen, with the exception of a few Sweet Valley High books.
Loving your blog ladies. New follower here.
ReplyDeleteHippity hop. I love all kinds of books.
Black Disaster Fairy
A World of Personality
@Kelly - I loved the SVH books, but it was slim selection outside of series like that for sure. I had to get my paranormal fix with Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine
ReplyDelete@Black Disaster Fairy - Thanks for stopping by! Off to return the favor....
Thanks so much everyone for the follows, comments, and compliments. The blogging community is amazing and we are having so much fun being a part of it!
