Cover Crazy: Wildefire by Karsten Knight

Saturday was feeling lonely without a meme of her very own. I stumbled upon the Cover Crazy meme over at The Book Worms and knew it would be a perfect thing for Reading Lark to join. The purpose of Cover Crazy is to feature a cover each week for us to admire its beauty. I really like this idea since there are so many great covers out there!

This week we are featuring Wildefire by Karsten Knight which is being released in July.

I stumbled upon this book and was just mesmerized by the cover. I didn't even notice that it was black Calla lilies at first. Once I noticed that, I was intrigued by the one flower that looks almost translucent. It appears that this flower has a fire deep inside, which makes me believe the book will be about someone who doesn't fit in with the norm around them. It also make me think of a volcano with the fire and the dark ash surrounding it. I also love the tendrils of smoke that are dancing out of the flower. The light blue color pops against the field of black. What do you think of this cover?

  3. I saw this cover a couple days ago, but didn't notice the calla lilies either. The book sounds interesting. Great analysis :-)

  4. Great pick! I love how the flowers look almost like lava. I see how the volcanic influences connect to the story, but I'm curious to see how the flowers tie in.

  5. I love the cover too! I didn't notice the lilies, either. Now that I look again, though, I can see them clearly. It's beautiful!

  6. I didn't even notice the flowers! I agree with you thinking it's going to be about someone who doesn't fit in. And I love the contrasting colours and how your eyes just follow the smoke.
I'd pick this one up for sure!

  7. Like Laura, I too didn't really even notice the flowers. This is another one of my favorite covers. I had it marked for a CC post. Smoke just doesn't fit with flowers. They sort of contradict each other, but then they are black. Maybe this is the tie which brings them together.
