Waiting on Wednesdays: Treachery in Death

Waiting on Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week, I'm featuring the next installment in J.D. Robb's In Death series, Treachery In Death. This is one of my most favorite book series due to the great combination of romance, suspense and a little bit of futuristic sci-fi thrown in. I've often described these books as a Law and Order SVU set in the future. I love being thrown into Eve's world. She is such a kick-butt woman. (And let's be honest; what woman wouldn't want a hunky billionaire Irishman for a husband?) I love Eve's friends Mavis and Peabody, and I love watching as Eve learns to open herself up to the people around her.
Release Date: February 22, 2011
Synopsis from Amazon :
In the latest from the #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon, Eve Dallas tracks down those who break the law-including the ones sworn to uphold it.

Detective Eve Dallas and her partner, Peabody, are following up on a senseless crime-an elderly grocery owner killed by three stoned punks for nothing more than kicks and snacks. This is Peabody's first case as primary detective-good thing she learned from the master.

But Peabody soon stumbles upon a trickier situation. After a hard workout, she's all alone in the locker room when the gym door clatters open; and-while hiding inside a shower stall trying not to make a sound-she overhears two fellow officers, Garnet and Oberman, arguing. It doesn't take long to realize they're both crooked-guilty not just of corruption but of murder. Now Peabody, Eve, and Eve's husband, Roarke, are trying to get the hard evidence they need to bring the dirty cops down-knowing all the while that the two are willing to kill to keep their secret.

So let us know...what book are you eagerly anticipating this week?

  4. I love this series but am behind on it also. I love Eve Dallas--she is so kick-a**. Great cast of characters in these pages. I have to admit I like her writing better as J. D. Robb than Nora Roberts.

  6. I am a new fan of this series, and I agree with the comment above - her writing is better as JD Robb than as Nora Roberts. I can't figure out why, but it's true. I'm only up to Ceremony in Death, which I think is the fifth book, but I've been eyeing this new one anyway. They always look so good! Enjoy it!
