Cover Crazy: The Art of Forgetting

The purpose of Cover Crazy is to feature a cover each week for us to admire its beauty. I really like this idea since there are so many great covers out there! Cover Crazy is a meme that was started by The Book Worms.

This is an upcoming adult novel that I stumbled upon on Goodreads the other day. I love the texture of the floor and the way the ballerina's skirt is splayed. The soft textures of the skirt against the rough textures of the floor create an appealing contrast. I wonder if this might be symbolic of events that will happen in the novel. I know from other books and movies I have seen that the life of a dancer can often be quite brutal on the body and soul. My eyes were also drawn to arch in the dancer's back - there is so much delicacy and strength in that pose. I also love the fonts used in the title. I wonder why the word "of" is written in a different font. What are your thoughts on this one?

  1. For some reason the way she's sitting, with her feet out and her skirt around her she almost looks like a swan to me. I'm also wondering why the "of" is in a different font. This is a very pretty cover!

  2. @Kayla - I thought of a bird too when I saw her pose. It also looked a little like she might be praying. I also want to know how the title fits into the image.

  3. Stunning cover! Absolutely beautiful! I agree - her pose is very swan-like and elegant. I love reading a ballet story. I'll have to remember this one.

  4. What a gorgeous cover. It looks like she's carrying a burden on her back, but I still see strength, or determination.

  5. I really like this cover! I used to be a really serious dancer. I don't dance anymore, but ballet slippers and costumes are a soft spot for me. Love your blog!

  6. The cover is beautiful, and since I've always loved ballet, I was immediately attracted. But I went over to shelfari.com to read a synopsis, and the plot doesn't seem to have anything to do with dance. That makes me a little less keen to read it, but I'm also curious enough to find out if the cover ties into the book at all that I might just have to read it anyway.
