Teaser Tuesday: Snowed In & Boundless

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

I'd actually been excited when Mom mentioned the snow, because arctic-like weather was a totally new experience for me. I've spent most of my seventeen years living in north Texas. When it snows half and inch, schools and businesses shut down, and the local news interrupts the regularly scheduled programming to provide up-to-the-minute progress reports on the trucks dumping sand on the highways.

"This is crazy," I say. "I can't. I'm trying to do--"

"What's right," he fills in. "You're always trying to do what's right. I love that about you." He comes closer, too close now, stares down at me with that familiar heat in his eyes.

Then he says it. "I love you. That's not going away."

"This is a rum and Coke? Nothing else?" I ask.

"One part rum, two parts Coke," he says. "I promise."

It doesn't taste anything like the drink I had at the party with Tucker. And now, almost two years later, I realize why. Tucker never put any rum in my rum and Coke.

That little stink.

That overly protective, impossible, infuriating, and utterly sweet little stink.

  1. I can relate to the first teaser... my sister-in-law lives in Texas, Houston actually, and they had a freak snowstorm a couple years ago. My nephew was so excited, and wanted it to stay, he grabbed a snowball worth of snow and stuck it in the freezer. :-)
And the Boundless teasers reminded me I still need a copy of Unearthly.

  2. OOh nice teases! Really liked the Boundless ones! Kind of reeling with the first because for some reason I don't think it's Tucker talking...

  3. fun teasers, I've been meaning to read the Cynthia Hand books. If they shut schools down around here when it snowed they'd be closed from November to March kelley—the road goes ever ever on
