Teaser Tuesday: Fates, Salt, The Namesake, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, & Panic

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

A firefly pushed its way free of Sylvia's hand, exactly as Corinthe had known it would. It was a Messenger. Once released, it would return to Pyralis, signifying that hate had been appeased, that order had been restored to the universe.

~ Fates by Lanie Bross, Kindle Location 110 (ARC)

"I'm Sorry." Carter's eyes are on me and I don't know whom he's talking to. I'm not taking an apology. Not after that. "It was an accident. I lost track of time." I want to punch him in the face. And then I'll apologize and say it was an accident. That I lost track of my fist.

~ Salt by Danielle Ellison, Kindle Location 2392-2395

For by now, he’s come to hate questions pertaining to his name, hates having constantly to explain. He hates having to tell people that it doesn't mean anything "in Indian." He hates having to wear a nametag on his sweater at Model United Nations Day at school. He even hates signing his name at the bottom of his drawings in art class. He hates that his name is both absurd and obscure, that it has nothing to do with who he is, that it is neither Indian nor American but of all things Russian.

~ The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, Audiobook Disk #3

"You look in excellent health to me, Potter, so you will excuse me if I don’t let you off homework today. I assure you that if you die, you need not hand it in."

~ Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter #3) by J.K. Rowling, pg. 109

She had never regretted anything as much as she regretted making the decision, on the beach, to enter the game. In the days that followed, it seemed to her like a kind of insanity. Maybe she'd inhaled too much booze-vapor on the beach. maybe seeing Matt with Delaney had driven her temporarily psychotic. that happened, didn't it? Weren't whole defenses built on that kind of thing, when people went crazy and hacked their ex-wives to pieces with an ax?

  3. An interesting selection of teasers. The only one I've read is HP&TPOA, and the only other one I've heard of is The Namesake, which sounds good.
