Teaser Tuesday: The Geography of You and Me, The Magus of Hay, Only Everything, Half Bad, After the End, & Feral

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

How long could a single night really be expected to last? How far could you stretch such a small collection of minutes? He was just a boy on a roof. She was just a girl in an elevator. Maybe that was the end of it.

~ The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith, Kindle Location 1497 (ARC)

It was the kind of place they just never would have considered living in. At one time. When he'd loved the empty hush of a cold night and the whingeing of old timbers in a gale. Oh...and when he could walk across the yard without a damn stick.

~ The Magus of Hay by Phil Rickman, Kindle Location 125

He clasped his warm hand around my waist, and I released the breath relieved. "I'd rather spend whatever short time I have here with you than hang among the stars watching life go on without me." We looked into each others eyes for a long, breathless moment. And then we cracked up laughing.

~ Only Everything by Kieran Scott, Kindle Location 62-65 (ARC)

"Use your Gift for good. Work with the Council, the Hunters, White Witches the world over. Help us and..." He leans back in his chair. "Life will be a lot easier for you." His eyes seem to glow silver as he says, "And longer too."

"I've been kept in a cage for nearly two years. I've been beaten and tortured and kept from my family, my family of White Witches. Tell me which bit of that is 'good'."

~ Half Bad by Sally Green, pg. 204

When we get to the car, she turns to me and in her solemn, grown-up way says, "Hey, Miles?"

"Yes, Juneau?" I respond.

"Thank you. For believing me. For wanting to help." Her lips curve into a smile and her eyes crinkle, and I want to hug her so badly my arms ache. But she turns and opens the door. As she gets in she looks at me and says, "Just...thanks."

~ After the End by Amy Plum, pg. 203 (ARC)

She eyed the faces surrounding her table, wondering why so many people insisted on being books that spent the entirety of their high school years in one genre section- mystery (the loners), romance (the jocks and cheerleaders), literary (the brains and nerds), sci-fi (the socially inept techies)-- and never wandered anywhere else.

~ Feral by Holly Schindler, Kindle Location 1240 (ARC)
