Teaser Tuesday: The Bees, The Night Gwen Stacy Died, Unleashed, & Trial by Fire

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

They rose up over the orchard, cool wind streaming down Flora's sides and fluttering the dried edges of the dead sister's wings, still held tight in her mouth. The sun warmed her wings and a thrilling power surge took her higher so that the world spread wide in all directions, the grid of green and brown below, the dark rise of the hills, the rough odour of the sprawling town --

"What's the plan?" she asked. "I'm assuming there is one."
Peter cleared his throat. "I will hold you at gunpoint. You will empty the cash register into my duffel bag. We will drive to Chicago. Fast," he added.
"I don't even know your real name," said Shelia.
"Sure you do, Gwen," he said quietly.

"How are you feeling?" Logan asked. He moved out from behind Ethan. Claire sucked in air when she saw him. It was the saddest he’d ever looked. Usually he was very good at hiding his emotions, but right now he looked like he was doing all he could just to keep from falling apart. This girl I'm about to steal has no concept of loss. She doesn't understand the difference between infatuation and love. That's a good thing. I don't want her broken like me. I want her wounded, yes, but stronger for it. There comes a day when every girl loses the stars in her eyes. And then she can see clearly.

 This is Lily's day.
