Teaser Tuesday: Since You've Been Gone, Fathomless, The Help, & City of Heavenly Fire

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly feature, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

I settled back into my pillow and looked up. I was glad that these sleeping bags were the crazy insulated you-can-take-them-on-mountains kind, because despite the fact the evening was still warm, it felt cooler at ground level, and a little damp. I looked straight up and just took in the star shining above us, with nothing blocking their view, and suddenly regretted all the nights I'd slept with anything between me and the sky.

She pulled the boy closer to her, so that his breath warmed her skin. "Love me." "I. . ." There was no time. Maybe he loved her already, maybe that was good enough, maybe- the ocean changed again, and the oldest sisters ducked back underwater. Lo inhaled, grasped both edges of the boy's shirt, pulled him against her lips, and kissed him, pleadingly, sorrowfully, desperately. Then she pulled the boy under.

“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”

His mouth was hot and dry, his skin burning as she ran her hands up his neck to cup both sides of his face. She tasted fire and char and blood on his mouth and wondered if he tasted the same thing on her. "Trust me," she whispered against his lips, and though the words were swallowed up by the chaos around them, she felt him relax minutely and nod, leaning into her, letting the fire pass between them as they breathed each other's breath, tasting the sparks on each other's lips.

  1. GREAT Teasers! I've read The Help and recommend it, and the description in City of Heavenly Fire is beautifully written. But my favorite is Since You've Been Gone. Anyone who has camped under the stars can relate to the amazing beauty of a night sky that isn't diluted by artificial light.
My Teaser is from LEAN ON ME.
